Happy new year! I hope you all had a brilliant Christmas and NYE, or whatever else you were celebrating. It feels a bit weird to be writing again after taking a full week off – but it’s been absolutely glorious, and something I should do far more often. It’s pretty rare that I even take a weekend off, let alone a full week. Maybe that should be one of my new year’s resolutions.
Anyway, as I’m sure you’ve guessed from the above photo, I have some exciting news! Baby AYB will be arriving in June. It currently looks like some kind of strange skeletal alien, but I’ve been assured that by June it will look a bit more human.
Hopefully this explains a few things – why I’ve been a bit quiet lately (only 6 new recipes in December), and why my recent recipes have been quite simple – even more so than usual. Some days I’ve just been absolutely exhausted, so I haven’t managed to get as much done as I would have liked.
I’ve also been completely off my food, especially vegetables. Which, as I’m sure you can imagine, isn’t ideal for a vegetarian… I literally just looked at a leek in my fridge a few weeks ago, and it made me sick. So that’s been great fun. I’m 15 weeks along now and I’m starting to feel a little better (I even managed a few Brussels sprouts over Christmas, which I thought was a real achievement), so hopefully I’ll be back to my vegetable-loving self very soon, and the recipes can get back to normal. For now, I appreciate your patience with me and the blog!
And before anyone starts groaning and thinking that AYB is soon to become full of baby photos and recipes for baby food: fear not! That won’t happen, as I don’t really enjoy reading that stuff myself, so I imagine I won’t really enjoy writing it either. Everything will be staying as is, as much as I can manage it.
One last quick bit of admin – thanks to everyone who’s already filled in my 2016 reader survey! I’ve been getting some super helpful comments which I am definitely taking on board (and some absolutely lovely comments which have had me bawling in my hormonal state). I won’t be closing the survey for another week or two yet, since I know this time of year is busy for everyone – so there’s still plenty of time to get your voice heard if there’s anything in particular you really like / really don’t like about the blog.
Thanks, and happy 2017!
(and before anyone tells me off, I didn’t drink the cocktail)
