Thanks so much to everyone who’s participated in my reader survey over the past few weeks – especially those of you who said nice things about me! I don’t usually use emoticons in my posts, but you guys definitely deserve one of these: <3 (that’s a heart…)
I’ve read through every single response, and taken on board all of your comments.
Those of you who didn’t make your voice heard: no complaining if you see something you don’t like this year, you had your chance!
I know some of you will be entirely uninterested in the results of the survey – if that’s the case, feel free to skip this post and come back next time for another recipe, no hard feelings! I just thought I’d share the results for those of you who are a little geeky when it comes to statistics (like me), or want to find out what sort of changes I might be making to Amuse Your Bouche this year.
Let’s go through each question in turn. FYI, people who chose ‘other’ on any question usually gave me more detail, but I won’t share all that here.
It’s interesting to see that although most of you are vegetarian, a lot of you are meat-eaters too (hello meat-eaters, thanks for giving veggie food a chance!). There are fewer vegans round these parts than I was expecting, but luckily everyone can enjoy vegan food, not just vegans themselves, so I’ll still try to share vegan recipes when I can.
Noted! I can’t say my recipes are particularly known for their healthiness (understatement?).
It’s funny – some people wrote that they love how my recipes aren’t too healthy, and other people asked for more healthy stuff! I’ll try to make sure my recipes err towards the healthy end of the scale from now on, but don’t worry – I’m sure there will still be a little indulgence for those of you who like it, and I won’t start using weird health foods that nobody has ever heard of.
I know I get carried away with my photos sometimes – I’ve learned a lot about photography in the past few years, and when I see a photo I like I just can’t help being impressed with myself and including it in the post – which usually means each post has about 6 photos! I’ll try to rein myself in a little in future, I might aim for 3 or 4 instead.
It makes sense that my ‘This Month’s Recipes’ posts are a little less popular, since you lovely loyal followers probably see each post as it goes up anyway. I’ll probably keep doing them for now though, as I enjoy looking back over the most popular recipes, and it’s a good place to share any freelance recipes I’ve been working on too.
I’m interested to see that pulses come out on top! I’ll try to use more pulses in the future, and more nuts too. I’m happy to see that my beloved cheese was popular too, but I’ll try not to go overboard…
I’ve been considering tinkering with video. I imagine a YouTube channel would probably have a different audience to the blog, so this result is understandable. I’ll bear it in mind!
I like this result! I try to make most things from scratch, but I do use shop-bought pastries and doughs (since I’m not the best baker in the world…). If you prefer to make your own, go for it! Almost every recipe that uses a ‘cheat’ ingredient could easily be made from scratch if you feel like it.
This made me so happy – 86% of respondents have cooked at least one AYB recipe at home! That’s so cool! If you ever think of it, please send me photos – I love to see your versions of my recipes. It’s also always useful if you can leave a comment on the recipe post so other people can see what you thought (good or bad!).
Other people cooking my recipes is the whole reason I’m here, so I do love to see your pictures and comments!
Also fair enough. This might never come to fruition, we’ll see…
That’s the end of the multiple choice questions. Thanks to all who took the time to leave written comments as well – I read every single one. A few specific questions and comments that need responses:
– a lot of people told me I need to include more puppy photos! This made me laugh a lot… I always thought it was one of those things like other people’s holidays or other people’s children, that people just smile politely at without actually really caring. No? I’ll try to remember to include some more Pip photos in my This Month’s Recipes posts. Remember you can also follow me on Instagram, where she appears a bit more regularly!
– someone said that my Facebook page is almost never updated, but I update it every 2-3 days! Make sure you’re following the right page. If you’re following, but aren’t seeing my updates in your feed, go to the page, hover over the word ‘liked’, and click ‘notifications’. Choose whichever notifications you’d like to get – then you can make sure you’re notified when I update!
– to the person who expressed sadness about the fact that I probably won’t marry you: Get me a cookbook deal and perhaps we can negotiate.
– and to the person who requested ‘braised greens, clear soups and broths, stir fries… and anything with booze in it’… you’re my sort of person.
